James Maddison reveals 'emotional' behind the scenes pre-season moment at Leicester City

Leicester City playmaker James Maddison has revealed that the squad watched a video of the 2021 FA Cup celebrations during their pre-season camp in Evian.

City have spent the last week in Evian-Les-Bains as part of their preparations for the 2022/23 Premier League season. The camp, based at The Stade Camille Fournier training ground, came to an end today (Friday 15 July) as they made the short trip to Belgium ahead of Saturday's friendly with OH Leuven.

In the midst of the training camp, Foxes attacking duo Jamie Vardy and Maddison spent time on a nearby golf course to discuss City's number nine's 10 years in LE2. The 2014/15 great escape, famous Premier League win in 2016 and European journeys were all discussed during the interview that was presented by City's attacking midfielder.

Vardy and Maddison will both not feature in European football this season after Brendan Rodgers' side finished eighth last season. The Foxes reached the Europa Conference League semi-final last term on the back of the club's first ever triumph in the FA Cup last year.

As the pair discussed the famous day at Wembley in 2021, Maddison revealed to LCFC TV one moment during their trip to Evian that was used a team bonding method. He said: "What a day. Such an emotional day.

"Especially with the video we watched whilst we've been out here as a squad of Top (Srivaddhanaprabha) coming down and celebrating with us and how much it meant to him and us. We know Vichai wanted that trophy.

"That's what makes it so special. From top to bottom, we're all in it together so we hurt together and enjoy the success together."
