James Maddison offers Ange 'my gaffer' loyalty pledge as he comes out swinging for under fire Tottenham boss
James Maddison has come out swinging for Ange Postecoglou as he passionately declared: 'He's my gaffer'
The Tottenham boss is under increased pressure after a poor domestic campaign south of the border.
The North London outfit have lost a staggering 19 league games and find themselves 16th in the league standings after a thumping 5-1 defeat at Liverpool last time out - a result that secured the league crown for Ange Slot and his troops.
Spurs' full focus is on the Europa League and Ange and Co are just potentially three games away from lifting major European silverware and also booking a ticket to the Champions League next season.
They must overcome Norwegians Bobo/Glimt over two legs to book a trip to Bilbao to face one of Athletic - who dumped out Rangers in the quarter-final - or Manchester United, who are going through the same type of season as their EPL rivals.
There are strong rumours that the former Celtic boss will be off in the summer, whether he ends Tottenham's long wait for a trophy or not - but Maddison and his colleagues are fully behind the man who brought him to the club.
He said: "We're behind the manager 100 per cent. I think he's a great man.
"He's the first person to tell you, I've heard it myself, that we've been poor in the league.
"We've been great in Europe but it's been unacceptable in the league.
"He's my manager, my gaffer and I respect him. We can still have a very successful season."
Ange previously faced Bodo while in charge at Celtic and so knows first hand what to expect over the two legs.
