Jake White's son signs deal with English club Bath

Wesley White, son of Bulls director of rugby Jake White, has signed a contract with English Premiership side Bath.

The 26-year-old, who has converted from hooker to loose forward, will join Bath after successful stint with the Jersey Reds in the second-tier RFU Championship.

White first made his mark as a hooker for the Sharks' under-19 side, before playing for French Pro D2 outfit Montauban.

He also spent three years in the US between 2016-2019 before moving to England in the hope of representing the country at international level as he qualified through his grandmother's British citizenship.

White, who has also trialled with the Blitzboks, is one of three new signings made by Bath for the 2022-23 season. The others are hooker Niall Annett (Worcester) and fullback Matt Gallagher (Munster), while New Zealander Joe Maddock is also back as the club's new attack coach.

Bath CEO Tarquin McDonald said in a statement they were delighted with the new acquisitions.

"Our recruitment process continues, with further signings to follow.

"We have been seeking players with talent and character, people who will share our resolve to drive the club back to the top of the league.

"We will be delighted to welcome Niall, Matt and Wesley to the club later this year."

From next season, Bath will also be coached by former Springbok assistant Johann van Graan, who will join from Irish giants Munster.
