Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr cancelled: Problem Child explains

Jake Paul and Hasim Rahman Jr will not be facing each other at Madison Square Garden on August 6 as the bout has been pulled.

Paul’s promotion team, Most Valuable Promotions, made the announcement on Saturday night that the fight would not be going ahead, and they stated they could not work with someone who was conducting themselves in “such a deceiving and calculated manner.”

According to the team, the bout has been pulled due to Rahman’s weight, as he had lost less than one pound than he initially agreed for the fight.

The max weight was supposed to be 200 pounds, but he weighed in at 216 on July 7. Despite offering assurances that he was on track to make the weight for the August 5 weigh in, Paul’s camp claim it “became clear that these assurances were not made in good faith.”

Whilst Paul was said to be willing to move forward with the fight at a 205-pound limit, Rahman’s team indicated that they wanted the fight to take place at 215, resulting in the bout being pulled.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer was quick to take to Twitter where he wrote: “First Tommy Fumbled and now Hasim Rahman Crumbled. These boxers are the most difficult to work with and continually lack professionalism and confidence to fight me. I apologise to all of the other fighters on the card, our partners, our team, and the fans.”

You may have seen the news Hasim Rahman Jr. has pulled out of the fight; this is not a joke. I am devastated. I cannot f****** believe this. We just found out
