Jaguar ready for Formula E's 9th season as it readies for maximum attack in Mexico
Jaguar TCS Racing is gearing up for the 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, set to get under way this weekend, 14 January, in Mexico City.
The season-opening race will kick-start the most race-packed season yet and introduce Formula E's new Gen3 racing car - the next generation of the all-electric racing car that encompasses new technical, sporting, and financial regulations.
For Jaguar, its new car, the I-TYPE 6, is the fastest, lightest, and most efficient to date, and the team is hoping to get Season 9 of the all-electric series off to a good start.
James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal, said: "We had a very positive year in 2022 with some real highlights, but we did just miss out on the top spot. This has given the team even more motivation to be in a position to fight for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Team and Driver titles this season.
"With our experienced team, (drivers) Mitch (Evans) and Sam (Bird), and the all-new Gen3 Jaguar I-TYPE 6, we've certainly got an exciting season ahead against world-class opposition."
New for Season 9, drivers will battle it out over a set number of laps - 36 for Mexico City - opposed to last season when races were determined by a set amount of time. The Mexico City e-Prix is regarded as one of the most thrilling race locations for 2023, and last year's event brought in a record-breaking crowd of over 40 000.
Come 25 February, Formula E will visit Cape Town, South Africa - for the first time - for the championship's fifth round.
