Jadon Sancho's challenge at Manchester United just got harder
It was two and a half years in the making but Facundo Pellistri did not disappoint in his first start for Manchester United.
The Uruguayan livewire wasn't quite able to contribute towards the creation of a goal like he had done so well in several of his brief cameos off the bench, but he was still a constant danger for Real Betis. For a player who has hardly kicked a ball for United, Pellistri showed no fear when given his long-awaited chance and was always looking to carry the ball forward and get into opportune positions.
His lightning speed also offered a new dynamic to Erik ten Hag's attack, as he was repeatedly running beyond the defence and available for defence-splitting passes. Pellistri is a unique entity in the United squad, no other forward is as direct as him and he's looking like he may be the quickest sprinter as well.

The 21-year-old remains very raw and has a lot of developments to do but the materials are there for a really dangerous winger who can create chances and be a thorn in the side of full-backs. Pellistri has certainly done enough to be considered a regular first-teamer at this stage and should get more chances to impress as the season goes on.
It's not the best development for a winger who started on the bench on Thursday and is still looking to return to his best form. Jadon Sancho's struggles this season have been well-documented. He returned from his hiatus out of the side looking fresh and made a quick impact with important goals against Leeds and Leicester but has been struggling to consistently make decisive contributions in attack or hold down a regular spot in the side.
