Sancho makes United form admission

Jadon Sancho admits that Manchester United players have a point to prove under Erik ten Hag this season.

Sancho arrived at United from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for £72.9million last summer, but he failed to hit the ground running in the Premier League. Team performances worsened while Sancho looked short of confidence throughout the campaign - similarly to his teammates.

However, the England man gradually improved and there were brief glimpses of a player that regularly dazzled at Dortmund. Sancho ended the term with only five goals and three assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, though, and will be desperate to improve on that tally after an impressive pre-season return.

Xavi shares transfer update on De Jong

Barcelona manager Xavi has opened the door to Frenkie de Jong leaving this summer amid long-standing interest from Manchester United.

Speculation around the Netherlands international and his future at the Nou Camp continues to bubble away after United and Barcelona confirmed an agreement in principle for the transfer. However, since settling on a fee for the player, his prospective move to the Premier League has stalled.

United manager Erik ten Hag wants De Jong and identified the former Ajax playmaker as his main target following his appointment at Old Trafford helm. United continue to pursue the 25-year-old after striking up business with three other targets this summer.
