Jadon Sancho is perfect for new position at Manchester United

When looking back at Manchester United's win over Leicester at the weekend, it is easy to fall into the cliché that it was a game of two halves.

The Foxes were the better side in the first 45 minutes and would have capitalised on their dominance if not for the inspirational form of David de Gea in the United net.

Marcus Rashford did what Harvey Barnes could not by dispatching his one-on-one chance, and United emerged from the half-time break rejuvenated as they blew their opponents away.

It was another game in which De Gea and Rashford's individual excellence made a huge impact for United, but just as important was the decision to bring Jadon Sancho on at the break.

What followed was an emphatic attacking performance, with the revitalised playmaker at the heart of United's free-flowing attacking approach from a central role.

At first, it looked like Sancho would be a direct replacement for Alejandro Garnacho on either wing, but instead he was used through the middle with Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes either side of him, and Wout Weghorst up front.

"With Jadon on the pitch, there was a lot of space in the midfield area to bring him there to get players playing between the lines, get more dynamics, it worked really well, him and Bruno on that side," Erik ten Hag stated after the game.

This gave the 22-year-old the freedom to drift across the forward line and link up with players whenever he received the ball, something he is frequently restricted to when he isolates on a wing.

Sancho relished the responsibility on his shoulders and oozed confidence in possession, tormenting the Leicester defence with his lightning quick exchanges and brief bursts of pace.
