Jack Lester bust-up with Steve Morison and Ndiaye gesture among Sheffield United moments missed

Sheffield United moved a step closer to securing a play-off place with a 1-0 victory over Cardiff City at Bramall Lane yesterday. Iliman Ndiaye's second half goal was the difference between the two sides.

Results elsewhere involving those teams in the chasing pack below all went in United's favour and the win helped them open up a nice three-point cushion over seventh-placed Millwall.

It wasn't just the pitch that saw action, there was also plenty going on off it in what proved to be a rather spicy encounter.

Here are the Sheffield United moments you may have missed.

A foul by Oliver Norwood close to the dugouts in the second half saw what at first looked like being an angry confrontation as Steve Morison came racing out to the edge of the touchline and he was furious. Immediately in the ear of fourth official Carl Boyeson and at referee Oliver Langford as well.

Jack Lester was having none of it, though. He confronted Morison and gave him a few choice words of his own, which Morison took exception to. He turned his attention to Lester and the confrontation between the pair continued. Morison even went further and pointed to a space near the tunnel, as if to suggest he would like to continue matters away from pitchside.

Lester did not back down and accepted his invitation and so it continued. A security guard and Boyeson eventually calmed matters and the pair were spoken to by the latter. It's not the first time Lester has defended United's corner. He's up for the fight whenever he feels there is a need to.

The matchwinner was superb yesterday and put in a real shift for his team. It wasn't just what he did with the ball that impressed, as he was forced to battle and scrap for everything as he led the line alongside
