Jack Grealish might soon find out if he has a problem at Man City

Jack Grealish could only watch on and applaud when his main rival for a place in the Manchester City team put in such a five-star display against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

As the £100million man remained an unused substitute, Jeremy Doku underlined his vast promise with four assists - and a goal - to gun down the Cherries in a routine 6-1 win. There was an element of future about one of those goal contributions, but the Belgian has needed no such thing as a helping hand in his early days with the club.

City have seemingly done it once again in the transfer market. Doku was not a particularly household name before his £55.5million switch to the Etihad Stadium from Stade Rennais this summer, but the 21-year-old winger is quickly becoming one and his performance against Bournemouth was the latest shining example.

While still raw, Doku is not so much a rough diamond as a player capable in the here and now and one who quite alarmingly for City's main rivals still has some growing room. He is already a problem for Premier League defenders and teammate Grealish might soon discover whether or not he has one with him in selection terms.

Pep Guardiola has countless star-studded options at his disposal. However, after spending over £150million on the left-hand side in the last 48 months, that has created perhaps the biggest conundrum for the manager.

His thoughts on the position will become evident enough in the next four Premier League games. At that juncture, Grealish too will understand where he fits into the picture after a topsy-turvy resumption.
