Jack Grealish hands Man City injury concern ahead of Champions League

Jack Grealish has been ruled out of Manchester City's game at Norwich with a shin injury.

Grealish, 26, picked up a nagging shin problem last season that forced him to miss 12 matches for Aston Villa and has picked up a similar issue this week that has seen him left out of Pep Guardiola's squad for the Premier League game.

City's manager told reporters at Carrow Road that he hoped the player could be back as soon as Tuesday for the Champions League game at Sporting, although the club will want to be cautious given the star's previous issues. Grealish has stayed fit for most of the campaign for the Blues but will need further assessment to determine how long he spends on the sidelines with this problem.

Grealish was one of five changes made by Guardiola from the 2-0 win over Brentford. Bernardo Silva started his 24th consecutive league game for the Blues this season but Rodri, Joao Cancelo and Kevin De Bruyne, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones all dropped to the bench ahead of the return of the Champions League.

City can extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to 12 points with a win over Norwich, as Liverpool - who will have two games in hand - are not in action until Sunday when they play Burnley.

Guardiola has urged his players not to allow their concentration to drop, anticipating a strong finish from Liverpool that will push them all the way in the title race.
