Jack Grealish explains motivation to leave Aston Villa for 'dream' Man City transfer

Jack Grealish claims that he simply had to join Manchester City to achieve his dream of winning silverware and trophies.

The former Aston Villa captain left his boyhood club in the summer for a Premier League transfer record fee of £100million and has made 25 appearances for City in all competitions this season.

Grealish might have made a slow start at his new club, having only scored two goals in 17 Premier League games, but he could win the Premier League title and the Champions League this campaign.

The 26-year-old is currently out of action with a shin injury with his return date unknown.

And during a recent trip to Dubai for Expo 2020, Grealish answered some questions from City fans.

One asked whether the former Villa man ever dreams of winning trophies to which he responded: "Definitely, that is the reason I signed for Manchester City."

Grealish made over 200 appearances for Villa and helped the club to achieve promotion back to the top-flight in 2019.

He penned a new contract at Villa after contributing to the club's successful attempt at remaining a Premier League side in 2019/20 and had a hand in 19 goal involvements in 27 league appearances in the following season.

That tempted City to activate the £100million release clause which was inserted in Grealish's five-year contract.
