Jack Grealish critics told why Man City star deserves England spot

Critics of Manchester City star Jack Grealish have been told why he deserves his place in the England squad, by a former City and Three Lions boss.

Grealish has spent the vast majority of his time at the Etihad Stadium under the spotlight following his move from Aston Villa for £100m. The 27-year-old's display against Borussia Dortmund left people questioning his role in the City side.

However, the winger would quickly bounce back as he opened the scoring for the Blues in their 3-0 victory over Wolves just before the international break. Despite that goal, some remained unsure whether Grealish deserved a place in the England World Cup squad in Qatar.

Former City and England manager Sven Goran Eriksson believes that Grealish is worthy of a place in the squad due to what he brings to the table. "I think so," Eriksson told BoyleSports World Cup when asked if the City man should be in the Three Lions' squad.

"If he would be the starter in the 11, I don't know, but technically he's very good, one against one he's very good. He's doing different things.

"Is he worth all that money? I don't know.

"How much did they pay for Haaland? £51m? He's worth that."

The September international break is the last chance Gareth Southgate has to look at his options ahead of the World Cup in November. Grealish could feature for England against Italy or Germany in the Nations League over the next few days.
