ITV This Morning viewers distracted by flag blunder as Holly and Phillip pledge 'support and solidarity'

This Morning viewers were left distracted during the first show of the week.

Following on from last week's shows, the ITV daytime programme started slightly later than usual.

Following Lorraine Kelly's self-titled show, ITV crossed straight to its news team for the latest on the Ukraine invasion.

Upon returning to This Morning, Holly and Phil started the show by continuing the conversation.

"Over the weekend, we've all seen the distressing images that continue to come out of Ukraine," Phillip, 59, said.

Holly, 41, continued: "Well, there has been an outpouring of support across the world. Tearful protesters gathered in London over the weekend to express their anger at the Russian invasion."

"Also the demonstrations in Berlin, Milan, Madrid, Tokyo," Phil said. "Even within Russia itself, it was reported that around 2,000 people were arrested."

The hosts also pledged their support and the support of the programme to the people of Ukraine.

"You might have noticed that we've added some Ukrainian flags to our river view this morning to show our support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine," Phil added.

"If you are watching and you have friends or family there at the moment, we're just sending our best of love and our support."

But This Morning viewers were taking to social media to point out a possible issue with the thoughtful gesture.

@Attila_hun tweeted: "Hey @thismorning! You should probably adjust those flags in the background to be the right way round. #ThisMorning."

"You've only got 1 flag the right way round #thismorning," @rmcgill19841 echoed.
