ITV This Morning's Cat Deeley speechless as co-star makes real-life Bridget Jones confession

This Morning host Cat Deeley was taken aback when a colleague shared her real Bridget Jones tale. Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Renee Zellweger in the upcoming sequel, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, where she faces new challenges as a widow and embarks on a romance with a younger beau.

In Thursday's instalment of the ITV daytime programme, Cat and Ben Shephard welcomed style guru Laura Puddy to chat about top shapewear picks in honour of the 24th anniversary of Bridget Jones's iconic oversized knickers debut.

Seizing the moment, Laura candidly opened up about her personal life, revealing: "As a single gal in her 40s, I have had a dabble with a younger man." A stunned Cat exclaimed: "Oh. Give me a high five way up there," reports Wales Online.

Laura confessed affinity with Bridget's experiences, stating: "So, I can relate to Bridget on this one." Curiosity piqued, Ben inquired: "How much younger was he? " Laura responded: "He was 17 years younger. He was 23 and I'm 40."

An astounded Cat couldn't help but cheer: "Yes. Laura Puddy." The conversation took a playful turn as Ben admitted: "I feel like we're being distracted but I want to find out more" prompting laughter all around when Laura teased: "In the next show I'll tell you everything."

Cat then redirected the discussion back to the franchise's newest plot points, questioning: "What about dating apps because she uses those as well?"

Laura shared: "I do think, when you get into your 40s and you've been single for a while your friends really encourage you to get back into the dating scene and this happens in the film too and obviously she dabbles in the apps.
