ITV Good Morning Britain viewers distracted as Richard Madeley shows off new look

Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley sparked conversation as he showcased his new look during the latest episode of the ITV breakfast programme.

The 68-year-old celebrity was back on TV screens on Monday (December 9) morning, joining Susanna Reid to deliver the latest headlines from around the world.

However, Richard's fresh facial hair became the primary talking point, with the show even initiating a poll to determine if the former This Morning presenter should 'keep his facial hair?

66 per cent of viewers voted 'no' during the broadcast and some fans took to social media to express their opinions on Richard's new appearance. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: "I am absolutely loving the new beard growing, stick with it Richard, it will look very distinguished.", reports the Mirror.

Another commented: "Richard's 'stubble' blends in with his makeup/fake tan/wrong foundation #GMB."A third person remarked: "The Middle East is on fire but let's talk about Richard's beard."

Before the end credits rolled, Richard left the GMB studio to shave off the beard and returned to the set looking clean shaven. The TV star first debuted his beard at The Royal Foundation Carol Service: Together at Christmas in Westminster Abbey, London, accompanied by his wife Judy Finnigan.

He paired his sleek black coat with a crisp white shirt and grey tie, and wore a pair of navy blue tailored trousers. His look was completed with a pair of smart black leather shoes as he linked arms with his wife.

On the other hand, his wife Judy, 76, kept warm in a black coat and a black scarf adorned with silver sequins as she walked into the venue. The TV presenter finished her outfit with a pair of black trousers and flat black boots.
