ITV Coronation Street's Alexandra Mardell announces first role after quitting soap as Emma Brooker
Alexandra Mardell has excitedly shared her first role since waving goodbye to the cobbles. The actress played Emma Brooker in Coronation Street from 2018 up until her exit earlier this year.
The Leeds-born star's character left in the back of a taxi after finding love with Jon Spear, the grandson of the man Emma and Faye Windass knocked over on New Year's Day before finding him dead in his armchair at his flat.
Throwing caution to the wind, Emma went with her heart and followed Jon to the other side of the world after he asked her to go to Australia with him. But it was almost jeopardised when Jon discovered the truth about Emma's role in her grandfather's death. However, he was clearly forgiving as Emma waved goodbye to the famous street and her family including Steve McDonald.

But it's now onto new projects as she revealed that she will feature in a new BBC radio drama called No Platformed. Alexandra will play the role of Clara, in the four-part series starting today (June 15) and will star in the audio series alongside Outnumbered and Not Going Out actor Hugh Dennis.
Revealing the news on her Instagram, Alexandra posted a series of behind-the-scenes pictures that featured shots of the scripts and herself in the recording booth. She wrote alongside the snaps posted to her thousands of followers: "Did a thing! A BBCRadio4 thing! If you fancy a listen – No Platformed – Starts tomorrow on BBC Radio 4 – 11pm – the 1st of 4 weekly eps or catch up on BBCSounds."
