ITV Big Brother 2023: All the housemates unveiled during the live launch show and what happened
After a five-year hiatus, reality TV show Big Brother returned on Sunday, October 8 on ITV. While the series will be on ITV2, the launch show was on the main ITV1 channel when the contestants, whose identities were kept firmly under wraps beforehand, entered the house. And we discovered there are two Welsh housemates among them.
In case you've never seen it (where have you been?) Big Brother - which launched on Channel 4 way back in 2000 with Davina McCall as host - sees a group of contestants, known as 'housemates', live together in a specially constructed house that is isolated from the outside world. They are continuously monitored by live television cameras and personal audio microphones.
ITV had remained so tight-lipped about the line-up that even the new hosts, AJ Odudu and Will Best, had no idea who they were beforehand and met the stars for the first time during the live launch show.
