Italian outlet claims Newcastle United have enquired about Alvaro Morata with Arsenal also in the picture

Atletico Madrid forward Alvaro Morata has been loosely linked with a potential move to the North East. The 29-year-old is also said to be attracting interest from Arsenal.

Having been on loan in Serie A with Juventus most recently, the former Chelsea man seems to be a bit of standstill as to where his immediate future lies. The Bianconeri have expressed no desire at present regarding a full-time switch for the nomadic striker.

With the Magpies expected to be busy once more in the upcoming transfer window, forward Hugo Ekitike looks set to sign, despite whispers Morata could also be of interested for the club this summer.

According to Italian website Calciomercato.it, Newcastle are said to have 'taken information on the 29-year-old', with Barcelona, Arsenal and Bayern Munich all keeping tabs on the ongoing situation too.

Valued at around €30 million at present, Morata did perform well during his previous spell here in England, finding the net dozens of times in each of his three seasons at Stamford Bridge from 2017-2020. Speaking on his future just days ago, the former Real Madrid man stated: "I can’t do anything about it. My wife and children will follow me wherever I need to go. I do have preferences and options, but I want to go where the club is interested in playing me."

Scoring 12 times for Juventus last season, Morata's situation is said to be one of interest for Arsenal given Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both heading for the exit door later this month.
