'It was a wake-up call' - Manchester United hero gives verdict on selling Marcus Rashford

Dwight Yorke believes it would be a 'huge mistake' for Manchester United to sell Marcus Rashford this summer.

Rashford spectacularly regressed last season, with the forward contributing just eight goals and five assists in 43 appearances.

That return followed the best season of Rashford's career in 2022/23 and supporters grew increasingly frustrated with his body language and off-field behaviour.

Rashford was fined two weeks' wages and dropped against Newport County in January after a trip to Belfast but scored in his next appearance against Wolves.

He ended the season by delivering a strong performance against Manchester City in the FA Cup final and has the challenge of returning to his best in the new campaign.

Rashford failed to make the England squad for Euro 2024 and a small section of United fans believe the club should cut their losses and sell the academy graduate.

Former United player Yorke disagrees and thinks it would be a mistake to cash-in on the 26-year-old. “I think it would be a huge mistake if Manchester United let Marcus Rashford go," he explained to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League betting odds.

“I think he is United through and through. He is coming off the back of a rollercoaster two years where he had his best season and then dropped off and missed out on the England squad.

“It’s a wake-up call as an individual to learn how this sport operates and that it has no loyalty to anyone. He has to put the work in now and keep his focus.
