"It's still ongoing" - Journalist drops transfer update on £10m Celtic swoop

Celtic are in ‘ongoing’ negotiations as they look to complete Cameron Carter-Vickers’ permanent switch from Tottenham Hotspur and the defender is ‘happy’ at Parkhead, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Bhoys are eager to see Carter-Vickers remain north of the border after initially signing him on a season-long loan from Spurs last August.

It appears Celtic are on the brink of reaching an agreement with Tottenham as, according to American media outlet SBI Soccer, the club are in advanced talks over a permanent deal for Carter-Vickers.

The report suggests the Scottish Premiership table-toppers are in pole position to strike a deal worth up to £10million with add-ons despite Premier League sides Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City and Watford also expressing an interest in the eight-cap United States international.

Burnley have also joined the race for Carter-Vickers’ signature and could look to beat the Glasgow giants to the punch unless they manage to rubber-stamp the deal quickly.

It is understood that those in the 24-year-old’s camp believe remaining at Celtic is the best option as he has enjoyed the finest period of his career since heading to Parkhead.

Chief executive Michael Nicholson has been put in charge of negotiating Carter-Vickers’ permanent switch to Parkhead despite manager Ange Postecoglou being branded the ‘chairman of the board in terms of football recruitment’ by owner Dermot Desmond.
