'It's on' - Liverpool fans say the same thing about title race after Man City loss to Spurs

Liverpool were handed a significant boost in their Premier League title hopes as Manchester City came unstuck in a dramatic 3-2 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

The result means that while City remain six points ahead at the top, they have handed Liverpool an opportunity to potentially halve the deficit, having played a game more than their rivals.

Liverpool had been forced to come from a goal behind against Norwich City earlier in the day as they rallied to record a 3-1 win at Anfield.

Goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and a first for Luis Diaz saw Jurgen Klopp’s side reduce the gap at the top to six points, ahead of City ’s clash with Spurs later in the evening.

And as Harry Kane spearheaded a surprise win for Tottenham at the Etihad, the importance of the result was far from lost on Liverpool fans, who took to social media to celebrate the latest twist in the title race.

In a shock start to the game at the Etihad, January arrival Dejan Kulusevski opened his account for his new club by putting Antonio Conte’s side in front after just four minutes.

Though it was Harry Kane who received the most plaudits for the game’s opening goal, after his initial inch-perfect pass succeeded in bypassing the entire City backline.

And it was the England captain who put his side back in front in the second-half - following Ilkay Gundogan’s earlier equaliser - curling an effort into the top corner just before the hour mark, while also having another goal ruled out for offside.

However, there was still time for plenty of late drama.

Riyad Mahrez looked to have rescued a point for the home side after a converting a 92nd penalty - only for Kane to strike once more in the 95th minute and have the final say in a memorable encounter.
