It’s not over for D’Tigress in Paris
Nigeria female basketball team, D’Tigress, must be in their best element on Sunday, when they face Canada in a make or break tie.
A win over Canada will see D’Tigress qualify for the quarterfinal for the first time in their history and that of basketball in Nigeria.
D’Tigress were blown off their feet in the second game, losing 75-54 to host nation, France after stunning Australia in their opening game with a 75-62 win.
They are now on the threshold of history, and the girls, led by Ezinne Kalu will finish second behind France if they beat Canada and France defeat Australia.
The Nigerians can still qualify in second place even if they lose to Canada, but it has to be by eight points or less provided France defeat Australia.
Nigeria will finish third if France beat Australia and D’Tigress lose by 10-20 points to Canada or Nigeria win against the Canadians while Australia beat France by 6-28 points.
But they will be eliminated from the competition if they finish fourth and this can happen if they lose to Canada and Australia beat France or France beat Australia and Canada beat Nigeria by 22 or more points.
