'It's mad' – Rio Ferdinand predicts Premier League chaos over Man City's 115 charges

Rio Ferdinand has forecasted turmoil in the Premier League as Manchester City await the verdict on their alleged financial transgressions.

City were slapped with 115 charges by the Premier League in February last year. An independent commission is scheduled to review the case later this year, but not before the current season concludes.

The sheer volume of the charges means a decision may not be reached until next year. This delay has sparked growing frustration among their Premier League competitors, particularly Everton and Nottingham Forest, who have both suffered points deductions this season for breaching profitability and sustainability regulations.

Given that City's charge sheet extends into triple digits, potential penalties could include expulsion from the Premier League, and possibly even relegation to lower divisions. The club, which denies any wrongdoing, has pledged to contest the charges.

Ferdinand, speaking on his FIVE podcast, has questioned the protracted nature of the proceedings. The TNT Sports pundit anticipates uproar if City manage to avoid serious punishment, via the Mirror.

"When is this going to get sorted out," he asked. "Because everybody else's cases seem to be getting sorted out mighty, mighty quick. Everton have had two dockings this season already this season.

"Nottingham Forest, all these teams are getting docked points. Manchester City's are just... [pretends to thumb through pages]."
