'It's done' - Pep Guardiola is clear on Man City exit after bad results

Pep Guardiola is not looking to win another Premier League or Champions League at Manchester City - but will not desert them now.

The City boss surprised himself as well as many others by deciding to extend his stay at the club, signing a two-year extension last month that will keep him at the Etihad until 2027 if he sees out the duration of the contract. Sources close to the manager believe he agreed to stay on to oversee the rebuilding of thee squad, although Guardiola has insisted that the current group would be challenging at the top of the Premier League if everyone was fit.

On his worst ever run as a manager with just one win from the last ten games, Guardiola knows that there must be improvements from everyone to get City back to where they need and expect to be. However, he has no regrets about signing his deal to stay.

"Absolutely not. I would regret leaving now. I couldn't sleep even worse than now if I was leaving the situation," he said ahead of the derby.

"They might sack me but leaving now? No chance. If my boss is not happy with me they can sack me but there is no chance of me leaving now."

Despite Guardiola's commitment to the future, there is no set target for what comes next and when he will leave the club because he feels that he has already achieved the most he could hope to at the club. That could sound deflating but is more a reflection of the magnitude of what City have won in the last eight seasons and does not tie the club to a specific moment for when the manager will leave.
