'It gives me more energy' - Erik ten Hag issues Manchester United rallying cry amid crisis

Manchester United's setbacks have made Erik ten Hag more determined to turn things around at the club.

United have lost six of their 10 games so far this season and are bottom of Champions League Group A following losses to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.

Galatasaray, Crystal Palace and Brighton have all won at Old Trafford to inflict more home defeats on United this season than in the entirety of last season.

Should Brentford beat United on Saturday, it will be the first time United have lost three consecutive home games in a season since October 1962.

Brentford have not won at United since 1937 and a bullish Ten Hag assured the club's current crisis "gives me more energy to turn this around."

"It’s patience and a cool head," Ten Hag stressed, "but we stick together and focus on what it is about and that is the way of play.

"I knew there would be gaps and setbacks. In this club, it is probably coming more but that is understandable. As I said, focus on the things that it is about and that is football, nothing else.

“I am responsible for having the right mentality. In my communication, my demands and my standards in what I demand from the players. I have to set that and make sure the right mentality is there. I give my 100 per cent effort every day to get that in.

“The fans are backing us. The fans are behind us, that is what I feel. I am sure these players can be mentally very strong. I have the experience from last season where there were many games where they were mentally strong.”
