'It’d be massive...' - Journalist makes big Celtic claim regarding future transfer prospects

Celtic could be set for a major financial boost ahead of the summer transfer window, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

As things stand, the Hoops are six points clear of their Glasgow arch-rivals in the Premiership with five matches remaining.

Whilst the Bhoys are still in pursuit of a domestic treble, Ange Postecoglou’s side will be steadfast in their quest to wrestle back the top-flight title.

Doing so this season will almost certainly see the Scottish champions automatically entered into the Champions League group stage, and O’Rourke believes that it would be beneficial on multiple fronts to Celtic.

As per FootballTransfers, the Hoops would benefit to the tune of at least £13m for reaching Europe’s elite cup competition, plus an additional £2.3m for every win and £778,000 per draw in the group stage.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke suggested that qualification for the premier European club competition will enhance Celtic’s chances of operating productively in the transfer market.

He stated: “It’d be massive for any big Scottish clubs to get in the Champions League with the finances that come with it, it can really benefit them in the transfer market going forward.

“It gives you more money to spend, but it also gives you the attraction of luring players to play in the Champions League. It would be a big windfall for Celtic and could maybe help them strengthen and move even further ahead of Rangers.”

Although Rangers could still qualify for the Champions League themselves via their current Europa League exploits, Celtic are now fully in control of their own domestic destiny, and any foray into the former tournament which may come next season would have
