Isthmian Premier play-off final: Dartford assistant manager Roland Edge urges players to take advantage of their fortune against Dover Athletic
Dartford's players have been urged to capitalise on their good fortune in Bank Holiday Monday's Isthmian Premier play-off final.
The Darts were heading out to Cray Valley in midweek before a dramatic turnaround saw them eventually progress 4-3 in extra-time.
Now assistant boss Roland Edge has urged his squad to cash in when they host Dover at a sold-out Princes Park.
"We've been given a lifeline, to be honest," admitted Edge, with a deflected Sam Odaudu free-kick rescuing the Darts in the semi-final. "You can't get around that.
"The free-kick, I think another 1,000 times it just rolls off the pitch, but it's gone in. It's down to us to make the most of that.
"Every team, every successful team, needs a bit of fortune. Luckily for us, we got it.”
Dartford had been left to rue their misfortune earlier in the campaign with decisions not going their way.
It seemingly evened itself out earlier than even the Darts expected.
Edge added: "We've laughed about it quite a lot, saying it must be in the wood and next year we've got loads. But it actually showed up at the right time."
Dartford beat Dover in the league at home on Good Friday but Whites thrashed their Kent rivals at Crabble in September.
Edge insisted you can't read anything into their Easter clash, even though Dartford's 3-1 win is still fresh in everyone's mind.
"It's a totally different game," stated Edge. "If you read anything into that, then you could read into the game when we went down there, if you want.
"Players have changed, the expectations and pressure will be totally different.
"We've been having cup finals for the last 10 or 15 games but this one really is one.
"We'll find out on the day, really. Lots of these boys in our team have never been in this
