Is WhatsApp down? Messaging app suffers major outage

WhatsApp appears to be down, with social media users reporting they are unable to access the messaging service. DownDetector, which collates problems across different services, reports a large spike in users reporting the site is down.

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross platform mobile messaging app for smart phones such as the iPhone, Android phones, Windows Mobile or Blackberry. Whatsapp allows users to send and recieve messages, photos, and other information and is considered an alternative to text messages or SMS.

Users first reported the issue at around 9.14pm on Thursday, April 2022. As of 10pm, over 38,000 reports have been received.
