Is Send to All real on Michael McIntyre's Big Show?

Michael McIntyre's family entertainment show Big Show has been a huge hit for BBC One since its first series back in 2016. It features appearances from celebrity guests, musical performances and comedy sketches - with Michael himself billing it as "big stars, big laughs and big surprises".

One of its most popular features, Send To All, sees a celebrity sending an embarrassing message - written by McIntyre live on stage - to every contact in their phone book. He said it "means a lot of humour and silliness" as he takes control of their phone and goes through apps and pictures.

And the star has insisted it is completely real - despite some viewers being sceptical. He told the BBC:" I'm used to cynical viewers with the Big Show. I don't think I've met a single person who believes any of those things are real."

He added: "They're always like: 'Come on, those Unexpected Stars know [what's happening], you tell them don't you? You tell them on Send To All, they know.'

"And I'm like, they don't know! We're not allowed to do that, and it would be too difficult to set up anyway. There's always a slightly natural cynicism."

In January 2023, according to website What Do They Know, a viewer even sent a request under the Freedom of Information Act about Send To All, wanting to know if it was real. They wrote: "I would like to find out if the Michael McIntyre - Big Show - 'Send to All' section is genuine or is the phone which Michael uses have limited contacts on it and the celebrity is fully aware of the situation as to what is being done to try to embarrass them in participating."
