Irish midfielder Aaron McEneff leaves Hearts for Perth Glory

Aaron McEneff has joined Australian club Perth Glory from Scottish Premiership side Hearts for an undisclosed fee.

The Irish midfielder, formerly of Shamrock Rovers and Derry City, has struggled to make an impact since promotion to the top flight.

The 26-year-old joined the Jambos in February last year and was part of Championship-winning and European football-clinching squads.

He made 36 appearances for Hearts, scoring five goals.

McEneff will move to the A-League side, subject to visa approval and international clearance.

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson said: "Aaron indicated his desire to move on if he couldn't get more game time.

"We have a compact squad but it’s laden with quality and nobody is guaranteed playing time, so when this transfer came up it made sense for everyone.

"Aaron has played an important part in our journey back to the top of Scottish football and he goes to Australia with our best wishes."

McEneff received an Ireland call-up for the Nations League game with Bulgaria in November 2020.
