Ireland Women through to quarters at Hong Kong Sevens

Ireland Women are through to the quarter-finals at the Hong Kong Sevens after a 34-0 win over Brazil.

After defeats to Fiji and Australia, the team, with Allan Temple-Jones taking over from Aiden McNulty earlier this week, ran in four tries against Brazil to complete their group phase.

Béibhinn Parsons and Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe touched down twice as Ireland remain in track for Paris 2024. They currently are in fifth position in the World Series, but with Olympic hosts France occupying fourth place, the side would secure their place at the 2024 Games as things stand.

Australia are next up for the Irish in the quarters.

After losing their opening pool to South Africa, Ireland Men bounced back to beat Kenya 26-14. However, they then lost out 26-7 to New Zealand and so did not make the quarter-finals.

They will now face Canada in the 9th place play-off at 1.30am (Irish time) on Sunday.
