Ireland winger Abbie Larkin signs for Glasgow City

Republic of Ireland winger Abbie Larkin is bound for the Scottish Premier League after signing for reigning champions Glasgow City.

The 18-year old Dubliner, who caught the eye with her appearances off the bench in Ireland's World Cup campaign Down Under, joins the Scottish champions from Shamrock Rovers.

"I'm delighted to be signing for Glasgow City FC. I’m excited to get started and I am looking forward to this next step of my career," Larkin told the club website.

Glasgow manager Leanne Ross said the signing of Larkin would strengthen their attacking options.

"Although just 18 years of age, Abbie has already played in the Champions League and represented the Republic of Ireland at the World Cup Finals this summer, achievements which highlight the calibre of player she is.

"Abbie is a technically gifted, creative player with an eye for goal. She can play attacking midfield or forward positions and will certainly add to the attacking threat posed by the team with her ability to assist and score goals."

Larkin previously won back-to-back Women's National League titles with Shelbourne, including a double in 2022. She joined the high profile cluster of players signing for the revived Shamrock Rovers in the off-season, alongside both Áine O'Gorman and Stephanie Roche.

She has earned 11 caps Republic of Ireland caps thus far, scoring one goal in the 9-0 qualifier win over Georgia.
