Ireland face trip to Saudi Arabia next in Davis Cup

Ireland will face Saudi Arabia in the Davis Cup World Group II play-offs next year.

Following a narrow defeat to Tunisia in a highly-competitive tie last month, Ireland must travel away to Saudi Arabia.

It will take place on the weekend 31 January - 2 February with exact times to be confirmed.

Ireland had some memorable moments in September when Michael Agwi secured his first win for Ireland in the Davis Cup, as well as defeating Tunisia's top player and world number 220, Aziz Dougaz, in straight sets, bringing the tie to 2-2 before Ireland eventually lost 3-2.

Ireland are now ranked 52 in the world with Saudi Arabia at 75.

The visitors will look to secure a win to earn a place in the World Group II draw for September 2025 and avoid relegation to Europe Group III.

With a young team nominated, Saudi were runners-up in the Asia/Oceania Group III, behind winners Thailand, which was hosted in Jordan last June.

Team captain Conor Niland said: "We as a team are very excited to get a chance to compete against Saudi Arabia in February.

"We are looking to build on some good, competitive experiences from this year in the 2025 campaign.

"We will as always do everything we can go get a win for Ireland."
