Ireland confident Louise Quinn will shake off knock

The Republic of Ireland are confident Louise Quinn will be okay to face Canada in Wednesday's huge World Cup showdown after the veteran centre-half sustained an ankle injury against Australia last Thursday.

Quinn ended the game with a black eye and an ice pack on her left foot. She is currently wearing a protective boot, but the Irish camp have no serious concerns that she'll miss the crucial clash.

Ireland flew from Sydney to their base camp in Brisbane on Friday, and head north to Perth on Sunday to prep for the game against the reigning Olympic champions.

Quinn is expected to train with the team on Monday.

Canada drew 0-0 with Nigeria in their opening game, with the Girls in Green going down 1-0 to the Matildas.

Ireland's hopes of progessing to the last 16 will be over if they lose at the Perth Rectangular Stadium, but a win - or even a draw - would give them a real shot at making it out of the knockout stages.

If Vera Pauw's side achieve that, it's likely they will face England in a blockbuster collision back in Brisbane.
