Ipswich Town fan pundit moots potential for forward’s summer departure

This article is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk‘ series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…

James Norwood has been with Ipswich Town since the start of the 2019-20 season and has gone on to make 81 appearances for the side, scoring 26 goals in all competitions.

In his first season with Ipswich he hit double figures for goals in the league, in his second season he was one away but, this season, he has just four league goals so far.

However, this is because he’s only made 16 appearances for the side so far this year instead of being a regular part of the line-up like in previous seasons.

Norwood hasn’t started the last three games for Ipswich and with his contract up in summer, his future at the club looks uncertain.

“Unfortunately the first two seasons were blighted with injuries but he remained our top scorer even with those injuries so clearly he’s got ability, he’s got goalscoring nous, but I don’t think he quite fits in with what McKenna’s wanting from his teams.”

In the last three games, Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has preferred to use Kayden Jackson despite the fact he is one place below Norwood in the top scorers table.

“You can see even when fit, Jackson gets in ahead of Norwood.

“I think he might be a bit too chaotic for McKenna’s style of play. He definitely offers a goal threat
