IPL 2022 Auction Halted After Auctioneer Hugh Edmeades Collapses Mid-Event

The mega Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2022 had to be halted mid-event after auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed on the dais. The unfortunate incident took place while teams were bidding for Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga. The cameras were on the two teams -- Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings -- who were involved in an intense bidding war for the Sri Lankan when suddenly there was a loud sound. All franchise members who were part of the bidding process looked shocked and tense.

Edmeades was immediately moved out of the hall with news agency PTI, quoting an IPL source, reporting that he had been taken to a hospital.

Official broadcasters Star Sports said that the auction will resume at 3:30 pm. In an another update, the broadcasters informed the viewers that Edmeades was fine.

Following the incident, early lunch was taken in the IPL 2022 auction.

Earlier, Harshal Patel was bought for a whopping Rs 10.75 crore Royal Challengers Bangalore after Rajasthan Royals started the second round with a bang by picking up Shimron Hetmyer and Devdutt Padikkal.

Shreyas Iyer was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a whopping Rs 12.25 crore after Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada went to Punjab Kings for Rs 8.25 core and 9.25 crore respectively.

Other big names like David Warner, Mohammed Shami were picked up by Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans respectively while Faf du Plessis was bought for Rs 7 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB).
