Invicta Dynamos beat Chelmsford Chieftains 4-3 in NIHL South Division 1 with goals from Tom Soar, Mads Thune, Tommy Huggett and Stanislav Lascek

Invicta Dynamos’ win over Chelmsford Chieftains on Sunday ended up being closer than it should have been.

Mos head coach Karl Lennon was pleased with the victory, winning 4-3 in their Gillingham rink, but wants his men to cut out the kind of errors that let the Chiefs in with a chance of a late fightback.

Lennon’s side recovered from a nervy start to lead the NIHL South Division 1 match 3-1 at the end of the second period, adding another to make if four, before a tense finish.

Coach Lennon said: “We were really happy with the win but for me, 4-3 doesn’t reflect the game. I thought we were more competent than that. Ultimately, a win’s a win, but we would have liked to have done it in a cleaner fashion.

“There were unnecessary little errors and once we can get those poor decisions out of our game we will be a much stronger proposition as a result.

“We’ve had a couple of games where if we had managed our decision-making better then we would have won games more convincingly and also we might not have lost that first game.

“There are things players can learn from and be better.”

Goals for the Mos came from Tom Soar, Mads Thune, Tommy Huggett and Stanislav Lascek.

Reflecting on the match, Lennon said: “It was quite an even contest throughout a lot of the fixture, our first five minutes we were very tentative, quite nervous which I could sense and they took advantage of that.

“We resolved some of the issues, didn’t make any dramatic changes, tried to up the intensity and we had a flurry of chances, three or four good opportunities but their goalie Jordan Lawday (one of several new signings from the league above) was outstanding, with two exceptional saves.
