Investment frustration and reinvestment concerns - Your Coventry City transfer questions answered

Frustration abounds as Coventry City fans continue to wait on news of new signings to strengthen Mark Robins’ squad ahead of the 2022/23 Championship campaign.

The Sky Blues boss this week revealed that he is hoping to add three, possibly four, new players this summer, assuming he doesn’t lose any of his star assets – all of whom have been the subject of bids from rival clubs, albeit nowhere near the club’s valuation.

Robins has disclosed that his planned new recruits will all be loan deals, with one ‘agreed’ and expected to be unveiled early next week on the squad’s return from their pre-season training camp in Spain.

There’s still just under two months of the transfer window left to negotiate, of course, and a lot can change in that time. Here, CoventryLive’s Sky Blues reporter Andy Turner answers supporters’ burning questions and concerns amid a slow going summer so far.

Let’s assume that he does the 3-4 loans and they’re all defenders. Do you think we’ve got enough strength in depth elsewhere if nobody else goes out?

In an ideal world I am sure Mark Robins would like another attacking midfielder and striker. As it stands if there was an injury to O’Hare or Palmer it would start to look thin in that department.

Is it not better to invest some money now while we are at position of strength because if we are still in the Championship next season it is very very unlikely that we keep this squad together?
