Inverness fundraiser closing in on £30k mark as cash-strapped club bid to avoid administration

Nearly £30,000 has now been raised to try to keep cash-strapped Inverness Caledonian Thistle out of administration.

The struggling League One outfit launched a Go Fund Me page earlier this week and confirmed that they needed to find £200,000 to keep them afloat in the short term. The Caley Thistle directors confirmed they need to come up with that figure by October 16 to meet the costs for this month. The club is also still open to talks with investors or potential new buyers. The current total stands at just shy of £28k as donations continue to land for the Highland outfit.

Manager Duncan Ferguson also revealed that he will go without a wage in the short-term to help ease the club’s financial plight. The club has gone into financial meltdown following their relegation from the Scottish Championship. Various plans and money-making initiatives have failed to get off the ground and they chose 77 Ventures as a preferred buyer but that deal bit the dust.

Former chairman Alan Savage has stepped in to try and steady the ship in the short-term. He has put in his own funds to plug the gaps but can’t keep doing so.

Inverness chiefs have already started talks about administration with specialists BDO. If that was to happen then there would be job cuts and the club would be deducted points by the Scottish Professional Football League.
