Inter Milan stance on Lautaro Martinez summer transfer amid Manchester United link

Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti says the Italian club will 'see' what happens with key striker Lautaro Martinez amid transfer links to Manchester United.

United are in the hunt for reinforcements in the striking department this summer as Erik ten Hag seeks to bring in new players in the coming months at the top end of the pitch. It is needed following the mid-season departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, and the January loan of Burnley's Wout Weghorst expected to not be continued.

United are understood to have pinpointed the likes of Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Goncalo Ramos of Benfica as among the priority targets to fill the gap upfront. The striking position is a key area in the squad United want to strengthen.

Martinez is not thought to be a priority target for United, with the aforementioned trio all ahead of him in the list. However, there is always the potential for a move to be made if a transfer for the others do not end up materialising as an alternative.

Inter confirmed their place in the Champions League final for the first time since 2010 last night. Martinez himself found the back of the net to seal a 1-0 win at the San Siro and a 3-0 victory overall on aggregate over AC Milan, with the victors to face Manchester City or Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old Argentina international has 99 goals in 233 games for Inter in all competitions. This season, he has found the back of the net on 25 occasions in 52 appearances.
