Inter Milan chief drops Romelu Lukaku transfer hint as Paulo Dybala targeted

Inter Milan chief executive Beppe Marotta insists the club must not be 'hasty' in their pursuit of re-signing Romelu Lukaku this summer.

The Belgium international has been linked with a return to I Nerazzurri after failing to live up to the heights since his big-money move to Chelsea last August. Lukaku has scored just eight Premier League goals in 26 appearances for the Blues, with the forward netting a further seven times in cup competitions.

"Now it’s the right time to share my feelings. I have always said that I have Inter in my heart: I know I will return to Inter, I really hope so. I am in love with Italy, this is right moment to talk and let people know what really happened."

Six months on and Lukaku continues to be linked with a return to the San Siro, after he scored 24 league goals in 36 games to help them to the Serie A title in 2020/21. Amid rumours suggesting he could be in line for an immediate return, Marotta does not want the club to get "anxious" when negotiating these deals.
