Inside the Salford pub and restaurant transformed into a medieval tavern with winter cabins

A Salford pub and restaurant has been transformed into a medieval haven just in time for Christmas. The Black Friar's winter tavern is back, and bosses have once again created a cosy atmosphere for punters to soak up the festive vibes.

Ahead of the launch of the venue's new Christmas menu, the Manchester Evening News got a first look at the festive offering - including the latest addition, the winter cabins.

Located a 10-minute walk from Deansgate, the Grade II-listed pub dates back over 200 years. Recently been refurbished as part of wider development in the neighbourhood, it now boasts an award-winning beer garden and outdoor tavern, cosy pub and grand 'Glass Room'.

And tucked away in that award-winning beer garden is a deceiving tent. You wouldn't expect a winter wonderland to be waiting behind the entrance.

As you step inside, you're hit with the warmth of the cosy fires indoors, which makes you feel as though you're a million miles away from the torrential rain outside, sat snug in the covered tavern.

The medieval theme is cosy, with glittering candles, roaring fires, rugs and furs adorning the space. Christmas decorations are tastefully displayed and there is a real feeling of luxury.

From á la carte and festive dining to beautiful cocktails, the new Christmas menu, available from Monday (November 20), includes seasonal offerings such Cheshire turkey ballotine with pancetta stuffing and truffle fries.

For those with a sweet tooth, there are delightful festive desserts - including a tiramisu yule log and a mouth-watering apple
