Stephen Robinson got a great reception ahead of his first game as St Mirren boss against Hearts.

But it was far from a happy SPFL homecoming as the former Motherwell gaffer was left puzzled by a couple of key refereeing decisions in their 2-0 defeat. Robinson replaced now- Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin and was warmly received by an excited home support - 423 days after he was last on a touchline in the Scottish Premiership. And there’s certainly one thing the man, who signed a two-and-a-half year deal on Tuesday morning, didn’t miss in his 13 months away from the Scottish game - the officials. Connor Ronan’s first half dismissal by ref Greg Aitken made it an uphill struggle for the new man. Robinson didn’t see fit to tinker with the team who earned a point under the caretaker management of Jamie Langfield at Livingston last weekend.
