Inside Manchester United icon Robin van Persie's training ground chat with Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund sought out a conversation with Robin van Persie during the Dutchman's recent visit to Carrington, according to Rio Ferdinand.

Hojlund joined United in the summer for £72m as Erik ten Hag looked to strengthen his forward line. Despite a solid goal tally for his previous club Atalanta, the 21-year-old struggled to settle in the Premier League and was goalless in his first 14 appearances in the top flight.

Since breaking his duck in the victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford, Hojlund has been on fire for the Reds and bagged his sixth and seventh goal in the Premier League on Sunday against Luton Town. It seems the Dane is keen to continue improving though and during Van Persie's recent visit to the training ground as part of the Dutchman's UEFA Pro Licence course, Hojlund showed he was willing to gain insights from a former Premier League winner.

The Daily Mail reports Hojlund had asked for the chat with Van Persie before picking his brains for half an hour. Shedding light on what he had heard of the conversation, Ferdinand told Vibe with FIVE: "I had a little chat with him [Van Persie], bantered him about his gear. Rasmus was there, came over to me and Fletch [Darren Fletcher] having a chat about things.

"What I loved is he saw Robin van Persie and said to Darren: 'Can I get five minutes with him, with Robin van Persie?’ Robin says: ‘Yeah come man’. They went away and came back ten to 15 minutes later.
