Inside Aaron Mooy's retirement as Celtic are swapped for mega-money 'architectural oasis' in Oz

Former Celtic star Aaron Mooy has snapped up a property branded an 'architectural oasis' after hanging up his boots.

But it hasn't come cheap with the home in one of the most exclusive retreats in Australia going for a whopping £1.83million. The 33-year-old ex-midfielder left Celtic fans surprised last summer when he announced his decision to retire from the game off the back of a Scottish Treble and playing in the World Cup with the Australia national side last term.

Mooy netted seven goals in 42 games in all competitions as the team retained the Scottish Premiership title and won both domestic cups, but had been struggling with injury issues, something that led to the decision. But he looks to be enjoying his time away from the game after splashing the cash on a sprawling coastal retreat at Byron Bay in New South Wales.

Mooy bought the property in the town's exclusive Ewingsdale from Australian property tycoon Terry Agnew. The property was described by estate agent Will Phillips McGrath as an 'architectural oasis' and records show the sale went through at the weekend with 'no finance required.'
