Injury update on Kieran Lee and latest on Bolton Wanderers duo Lloyd Isgrove and Elias Kachunga

Bolton Wanderers are waiting to see the outcome of a specialist's opinion on Kieran Lee's heel spur injury problem before deciding on whether the midfielder will have an operation or not this season.

The 33-year-old missed the midweek loss over Burton Albion after having a scan on an Achilles injured which forced the Wanderers midfielder off early on in the win over Oxford United.

The former Sheffield Wedneday man is seeing a specialist to assess the severity of a heel spur problem which he has been playing through the pain with and if it can be managed between now and the end of the campaign or whether an operation is needed soon to correct the issue and would curtail his season early if needed.

Evatt said: "Kieran Lee has had a scan. The scan has revealed no further damage to the Achilles, which is good news. It’s just really this heel spur which is causing a problem.

"He’s seeing a specialist today as to whether we can get him through to the summer with some pain management.

"If we can’t, the operation will have to take place now. Kacha and Izzy are back on the grass, which is good news.

"Other than that, everyone is in good health."

As Evatt mentioned, attacking duo Lloyd Isgrove and Elias Kachunga have both returned to running on grass but are still a few weeks away from returning to action, ahead of this weekend's clash versus AFC Wimbledon.

The Bolton boss added: "It's great to have him (Isgrove) back out on the grass. He’s a great character and he’s been a big player for us. Same for Kacha really. I’m excited to have them both back involved and back in the squad.
