Injured Delta Queens official airlifted to Asaba

To ensure proper medical care, the management of Delta Sports Commission has airlifted one of the officials of Delta Queens FC to Asaba from Ijebu-Ode.

Six officials of Delta Queens narrowly escaped death on Tuesday when their vehicle was involved in an accident along the busy Benin – Sagamu Expressway.

The team had gone to Ikenne, Ogun State for a midweek league match against Remo Queens.

The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Henrietta Ehiabor, the secretary and the coaches narrowly escaped death in the accident, although their vehicle was damaged beyond repair.

Acting Director General/Chairman of the Commission, Festus Ohwojero, told The Guardian, that the club secretary, who suffered multiple fracture on her hand had been airlifted to Asaba General Hospital for proper medical care.

“The accident was very serious, but we thank God for sparing the lives of all the officials. When we got the news, the first thing the commission did was to order that the officials be taken to the nearest hospital in Ijebu-Ode. When we later discovered that the chosen hospital did not have the needed medical facilities to carry out x-ray and other tests, we moved them to another private hospital within Ijebu-Ode.

“Only the secretary had a serious issue, and by Wednesday morning, we moved her to Lagos, where she was airlifted to Asaba General Hospital. She is responding to treatment. We will continue to do our best for the athletes, players and officials of the Sports Commission,” Ohwojero stated.
