INEOS 'plot ambitious Man United manager appointment from Premier League rival' and more rumours

Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly not ruled out a move for Ange Postecoglou as Erik ten Hag's future is still uncertain at Old Trafford.

The Dutch boss is under pressure at the club following a disappointing second season in charge. Having taken the club to the FA Cup semi-finals after a thrilling 4-3 win over Liverpool, some pressure may have been lifted for now.

However, ESPN reports that Ten Hag has been offered no formal guarantees that he will stay in his role as Ratcliffe and co. continue their transformation behind the scenes. While Ten Hag is said to have been fully involved in planning for the summer transfer window, Sir Dave Brailsford is claimed to have been monitoring other candidates for the job.

The report adds that Ratcliffe 'is determined to be as ambitious as possible with his appointments to key positions'. Postecoglou is among the candidates for the managerial job should they decide to replace Ten Hag, while England boss Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Frank, Thomas Tuchel, Julen Lopetegui, Zinedine Zidane, Ruben Amorim and Julian Nagelsmann have all been discussed internally as potential replacements.

Although Postecoglou has been at Tottenham for less than a year, an approach for the 58-year-old has reportedly not been "ruled out." Ten Hag is under contract until 2025 but after an underwhelming campaign, United are at risk of missing out on qualification for the Champions League next year.
