Indonesia vs Thailand 0-4 in AFF Final 1st Leg; Shin Tae-yong: We Won't Give Up
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national football team refused to give up albeit losing 0-4 to Thailand in the first leg match of the 2020 AFF Cup final at the National Stadium of Singapore, Wednesday night.
“We will not give up. I will ask the players to think about the result of the first leg match so they can bring out their best potential as they do during the group stage,” said Indonesia’s team coach Shin Tae-yong in a virtual press conference after the match.
The former South Korea coach admitted that it was hard to turn the situation after losing four goals. Besides, Thailand is one of the best teams in Southeast Asia along with Vietnam.
However, Shin expressed optimism that anything could happen and encouraged the team to keep their heads up and prepare the best they could for the second leg match of the 2020 AFF Cup final, which was scheduled on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Singapore's National Stadium.
“The ball is round. We have to work hard for the second leg. We know that we have the support of the fans. For their sake, we want to get a good result,” said Shin Tae-yong.
